Biography

Dr. Stéphanie Malherbe is a graduate of the University of Montreal's medical school; she completed her Family Medicine residency at the CLSC des Faubourgs in Montreal and has additional training in General Surgery and in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Malherbe is currently working as an emergency physician for adults and children at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa; she has been actively involved in medical education through the Bureau des Affaires Francophones (BAF) of the University of Ottawa since 2005, and has acted as the Francophone stream Chief Examiner for the undergraduate OSCE examinations since 2008.

Her keen interest in Tropical medicine and the completion of the Microprogramme in International Health of the University of Sherbrooke have led her on a pathway to Global health through medical missions with various NGOs, namely as a Delegate for the Canadian Red Cross.

Dr. Malherbe is one of the leaders of the elective rotation in the West-African country Benin and has been invested as a preceptor for students and residents since 2005, organising predeparture training and supervising international electives in Benin, Mali and Panama.
