Dr. Chuck Su is an assistant professor in both the Department of Family Medicine and Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He completed his medical degree at the University of Western Ontario, where he was president of the Hippocratic Council (Medical Student Society). He continued his medical training at Queen’s University in family medicine where he was the co-chief resident.
Dr. Su moved to Ottawa in 2000 and started working in the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) Emergency Department. At WDMH, he held the position of Chief of Emergency for five years and continues to be the physician scheduler for the department. He consistently teaches learners of all levels in the Emergency Department.
In 2010, Dr. Su became the director of Distributed Medical Education for the Faculty of Medicine. He is responsible for networking with rural communities across Ontario to provide uOttawa medical trainees with opportunities to experience medicine in small communities. He enjoys teaching and tutoring case-based learning sessions for the undergraduate program. In the summer of 2014, Dr. Su went to teach at the Ottawa Shanghai Jiao Tong Joint Medical School. He plans to go back again in the summer of 2015 to teach a new cohort of medical students.
