Student health and wellness is a priority at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine. Multiple studies have confirmed that the prevalence of psychological distress is very high among medical students due to the demands of medical school. Through the health and wellness program, the Student Affairs Office works diligently with the students to educate, guide as well as support them during this arduous journey. We aim to foster a resilient work environment where students learn to incorporate positive coping skills in order to bounce back from their adversities. We want our students to have a positive experience during their medical school, therefore teaching the importance of nutrition, exercise and personal well-being can help produce the essential components of a healthy work-life balance. Our health and wellness program enables and aspires our students to succeed and become future well-rounded physicians.
